Royal Botanic Gardens Cranbourne (The Australian Garden)

On 28 May 2006, ten thousand people attended the opening of the Australian Garden at the Royal Botanic Gardens Cranbourne. Transformed from a former sand mine of 26 hectares, the Australian Garden is a world-class public garden that celebrates the beauty, diversity and unusual nature of our nation. It shows Australians and international visitors how wonderful Australian flora is, how bizarre, how colourful, how sweet smelling. Features within the innovative new garden include a stunning Red Sand Garden, a 90 metre long Escarpment Wall and five exhibition gardens. The Australian Garden has a range of facilities including a Visitor Centre, café and retail outlet.
