Rupertswood Mansion

Rupertswood, the ‘Birthplace of the Ashes’, is a unique 50 room Italianate mansion built between 1874 and 1876, as a country residence for Sir William Clarke. The mansion, restored between 1998 and 2001, is now an historic country house accommodating up to 28 guests in 11 fully restored Victorian bedrooms. Features include grand Victorian rooms, the original smoking room, cellar, morning room, and library. Rupertswood’s restaurant features fresh estate grown and local produce. Dominic and Marie Romeo are involved in greeting guests and providing them with a tour and historical talk about the mansion including the Ashes story. They pride themselves on personally looking after guests – cooking and serving breakfast, preparing dinner and offering a drinks service.
