Bunjilaka, Aboriginal Centre, Melbourne Museum

Bunjilaka ('Creation Place') is a living cultural centre, artist space and exhibitions venue celebrating the culture and survival of Koorie (south eastern Australian Aboriginal) people, and illuminating the relationship between indigenous people and the land. Bunjilaka works closely with the Victorian Aboriginal community to present enduring and contemporary Aboriginal culture, and to dispel the myth that the Aboriginal culture exists only in a heritage 'past tense' context. Bunjilaka is a space where everyone, from locals to tourists, can learn more about Australia's indigenous culture - where visitors can listen to Indigenous people tell stories of their life, land and law, as well as experience unique art and cultural objects.
